When ISIS came to Iraq's Diyala province, local shopkeeper Nadi had no choice but to take her children and flee, leaving her home and livelihood behind.
By the time ISIS were driven out, and Nadi and her family could return, everything had been broken, burnt or stolen. Even the roof of their home had collapsed.
To help people like Nadi reopen their businesses and give the local economy a much-needed kick-start, we distributed cash grants for equipment, repairs and restocking.
Thanks to a grant we gave her, funded by people like you, Nadi was able to rebuild her home and her shop. Today, her neighbours in Jalawla town have somewhere to buy supplies again, and Nadi is earning a living for herself and her family.
