At Oxfam we're proud of being able to learn from our experience - and our toilets are a prime example. We discovered that by having blue-coloured squatting plates in our toilets attracted more flies, while having green plates deterred people from using the toilets in some countries because green is seen as a holy colour. And the best colour? It's a nice, neutral brown.

Did you know ...

... that graphene can make salt water drinkable?

Here's a sneak peak into the future of water purification that could have a huge impact on our work. An exciting project currently under development at the University of Manchester uses graphene (ultra-thin, carbon-based material) to produce a tough, low cost membrane that can effectively filter salt water and turn it into drinking water.
