E-Commerce Content and Social Intern (Oxfam House)


Oxfam's Online Shop first opened in 2007, and now offers over 100,000 donated items, including pre-loved clothing, books, vinyl and unique home ware. All profits help fund Oxfam's life-saving work around the world.

The E-Commerce Content and Social Intern will primarily work on creating and gathering engaging content for the website and managing the online shops social channels. There will be a heavy focus on Christmas and our seasonal gift guide as well as our weddings and bridal offering. They will be responsible for creating curated collections, writing copy for the website, blog posts and scheduling social posts. The intern will also work closely with the E-commerce Marketing and Promotions Co-Coordinator in planning and coordinating photo shoots.

The role will, on occasion, involve visits to Oxfam shops and events. You'll be able to offer up to 3 days a week (days and hours are flexible).

Key responsibilities:

  • Researching charities, pre-loved/second-hand, ethical  retailers, vintage, lifestyle and fashion magazines and blogs etc to help plan promotional activity.
  • Analysing our current social channels to help develop a stronger understanding of our customers and audience trends.
  • Choosing items for curated content (e.g. Christmas party dresses, Christmas gift ideas, vintage bridal).
  • Content gathering and copy-writing for website features, blog posts and social channels.
  • Create a schedule for social media and report weekly on key results.
  • Help plan seasonal fashion photo shoots.

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communications: produces clear written communications and confident speaking with people face to face, online and via telephone.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • An understanding of the principles of good user experience for web, mobile and social media channels.
  • Interest in fashion, fashion blogs, vintage clothing, charity shops and DIY fashion crafts is essential.
  • Understanding of online monitoring tools - web and social media analytic is desirable but this can be supplemented by internal training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • An interest in testing new initiatives and approaches.
  • An interest in Oxfam's work would be helpful.
