Oxfam's Online Shop sells a range of interesting donated items - including books, music, DVDs, clothes, fashion accessories and homewares - to a worldwide audience. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in photography.

You will photograph the donated items in a room above our shop. It is a great opportunity to join a burgeoning project, develop photography  techniques, as well a chance to expand basic computer skills with our photo-editing software.

You'll be given any training required in order to be able to create accurate and attractive photographs which are essential for selling online.

Ideally, you will volunteer 1 day per week for up to 2 hours.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing the stock for photography (e.g. checking the condition of items, positioning them to their best effect)
  • Taking multiple photographs to illustrate the item for sale
  • Uploading and editing photographs

We will provide training for the editing software, as well as an introduction and guidance to the Oxfam Online Shop

Skills and competencies:

  • Basic IT skills and competency
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic photography skills
  • Ability to work independently, but with guidance and support
  • Some knowledge of the product areas previously named would be advantageous but not essential
  • Desire to learn or develop new skills in the field of online retail

What this role can offer the volunteer:

  • You will be helping Oxfam in its mission to build a just world without poverty
  • References provided for future employers.
  • An insight into the processes involved within e-commerce
  • The opportunity to develop photography and computer skills
  • Lunch costs and reasonable local travel expenses can be reimbursed in line with Oxfam's policy
