CMDB Data Entry Administrator

Context:

The role is within Service Transition in the IS Department. Service Transition is responsible for the governance strands within the IS Department and ensures changes made to the IS applications are carried out properly.  The volunteer will help create a database for use by the IS Department to support these activities.

The database will be used to track IT equipment and resources and will be used for analysis of faults and financial purposes.

Ideally, you will be able to volunteer 3 days per week for 3 months.

Key responsibilities:

  • To populate a database, with IS equipment i.e. servers, workstations, software, laptops etc.
  • The role will be predominantly computer based. The database will be used to support the day to day running of the IS Department. 
  • Review and understand data which has been collected, and then enter the data into a database. Some of the data entered will need to be associated with other data in the Database. 
  • Interact with members of the IS Department to clarify information before inputting the data.

Skills and competencies:

  • Computer literate but training will be given.
  • Ability to enter information from a spreadsheet or other documentation into a database.
  • Understand the data being input.
  • Be able to decide the correct data to be input into the correct fields.
  • Communicate with IS department to verify data is correct.
