Student Coordinator


Oxfam Scotland's Campaigns Team works with a wide range of organisations and individuals to promote global justice. Volunteers play a key role in the team, helping deliver campaign activities on areas including economic justice, health and education.

Ideally, you will be able to volunteer at least 6 hours per week on duties (this can be flexible upon availability). Occasional time will be spent in Oxfam office in Glasgow, with many duties carried out remotely.

The role is to be carried out throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities:

  • Establishing relationships with Universities and Colleges in Scotland to help increase our supporter base among students.
  • Encouraging and supporting the establishment and ongoing running of student groups.
  • Providing materials, resources and up to date campaign information to student groups.
  • Attending Fresher's Fairs and Student Events to promote Oxfam's campaigns and recruit supporters.
  • Establish a relationship as the Oxfam Scotland point of contact with NUS Scotland.

Skills and competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of IT with the ability to produce local publicity materials.
  • Able to get along with people from all walks of life, with great interpersonal skills, good at managing relationships and team working.
  • Practical campaigning ability, including demonstrable organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of Oxfam's campaigning priorities is an advantage.

  • Experience in developing groups and organising volunteers including developing communications to volunteers.
  • Experience of practical campaigning and how to develop campaigns, including organising events to promote campaign issues.
  • Experience of managing relationships with external partners.
  • Lunch costs and reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed in line with Oxfam's policy.
