Health and Safety Officer (Gloucester Road)

Context:

Based in a beautiful part of London, just 2 minutes walk from Hyde Park, and close to the V&A and the Natural History Museum, the Gloucester Road Oxfam shop is one of the busiest shops in London. Our aim is to fight poverty all around the world by raising as much money as possible by selling the items, which are donated to us.

Health and Safety Officer will ensure the shop is maintained well and is safe for our members of staff and customers.

You'll be able to offer at least one 4-hour shift a week. Shifts are 10 am- 2 pm and 2 pm- 6 pm (Monday- Saturday) and 12 pm- 5 pm (Sunday).


Key responsibilities:

  • Weekly fire alarm testing.
  • Completing Health and Safety Checklist monthly.
  • Shop maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Reporting Health and Safety issues (e.g. major repairs) to the head office and ensure that issues are dealt with within a reasonable period of time.

Skills and competencies:

No previous experience is needed, so don't be afraid to apply. If you are successful, full training will be given. So if you consider yourself a reliable and responsible person, then this opportunity is for you.

Preferable skills are:

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Willingness to undertake training as and when required.
  • Knowledge of or desire to learn more about Health and Safety.
  • Good communication skills.
