HR Assistant (Oxfam House)


The HR Team provides support to the Trading Division's staff and managers. We have over 600 shops, and approximately 1,000 paid employees, located throughout the UK. Ideally, you will volunteer up to 3 days per week for a minimum of 4 months.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drafting basic HR letters, including contracts.
  • Providing basic administrative support to the Trading HR Admin Team.
  • Answering phone calls and dealing with enquiries.
  • Requesting references and compiling contract packs for new staff.
  • Chasing outstanding paperwork for new starters.
  • Managing and submitting volunteer disclosure barring service checks.

Skills and competencies:

  • Excellent computer skills with good knowledge of Microsoft office (including Word, Excel and Email).
  • Good accuracy and attention to detail in all written correspondence and pleasant customer service manner.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to meet tight deadlines and a strong interest in Human Resources.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels within the organisation.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Live within reasonable distance of Oxford.
  • Although this is a volunteer position, you will need to provide current proof of right to work in the UK.
