Tentbusters 2010
Date
29/10/2010Description
Thanks to everyone that came - we raised £300.35 for Oxfam As part of the Oxjam music festival, join Tentbusters on October 29th to see the best in unsigned bands, local comedy and live performance. Set in Crouch End’s very own Music Palace it promises to be a night of mayhem and frivolity. WARNING: A travelling troupe known as Carnaval des âmes brisées came across our humble event and decided that they would, on the week of Halloween, claim it as their own. Taking this wholesome and charitable night they twisted it into something dark and seductive. Now people will travel from far and wide to see what lies in wait, 250 will experience its delights. Tentbuster’s founder Victoria Appleton states “Since the takeover we are unsure what will unfold however I have been promised that it will be heart stopping entertainment”. A man only known as The Master has requested that Edwardian, Victorian or carnival appropriate attire be worn. You may gain a reward for your endeavors. Tickets are available through We Got Tickets: www.wegottickets.com/event/90632

"Can't Snorkel - legendary Albanian Barbers Shop Trio Can't Snorkel were first formed in the fair cathedral city of St. Albans in the final days of the 20th century. Fusing heartfelt tales of gritty urban realism with soaring vocal harmonies, a variety of percussion and a bass guitar that sounds like a chicken being plucked, they're certainly the most original band you'll hear this year. Despite attacks by drunken irish hecklers, excommunication by both of The Proclaimers, and their CD landing on John Peel's desk just one week too late, this is a rare gig from possibly the most under-rated musical phenonomenon of the last ten years."

Mike Brown is a singer/songwriter from South East London. His catchy and original tunes fuse a jazz and classical background with sing-along rock. The MBB make good music. The type you can’t stop singing all day. The band’s tight live act comprises of piano, bass, drums and lots of sweet harmonies. Most shows will often throw up a token cover adapted in their own unique style. The band has been performing venues across the London area including The Backyard, LeeFest, The Vortex and a battle of the bands-winning performance at 93 Feet East; with such acts as The Holloways, The Skints and Jamie Scott & the Town. The MBB’s unique sound appeals to pretty much everyone, a must-see act on today’s music scene. www.myspace.com/mikebrownmusic

Description
Eric Ness is a Norwegian Singer/Songwriter residing in the heart of Camden, London. He has spent this past year developing his sound - best described as Glam Jazz - and completely revamping his entire band with the addition of 2 glorious female back-up singers, a Canadian mandolin player and a brand new guitar/back-up singer. His new sound has received incredibly positive reviews from the likes of The London Word, Gig Junkie, Glasswerk and RawMg Magazine. What sets Eric Ness apart from the rest is his impressive live performance and his delightful lyrics. His latest EP is packed full of heart and soul with indie-style guitar strums intermingled with trumpets, pianos and harmonised vocals to create a totally unique stripped down sound. What is a live performance by Eric Ness like? I think The London Word said it best: “Eric Ness and his band appeared on stage and turned the flavourless atmosphere on its head with an injection of raw, unadulterated fun".

I have experience in Marketing for Theatre and for music venues/ events. Last October I organised the Lockside Lounge's Halloween event which was a great success. I have also done marketing for the Holloway Arts Festival, Bearded Gorilla, and The Playmakers. Tentbusters will hopefully be the start of an annual event.

The only thing more exciting than putting on your own event to help fight poverty is knowing that you’re part of a movement of thousands of gigs, club nights and events right across the country.James from Klaxons
