Our festival campaigners use fun, interactive activities to get people talking about global issues. In 2013 our teams will be raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Syria.

Love Syria

Right now, Syria's people are suffering a major humanitarian crisis. Violent conflict has left 8.3 million people in need or urgent assistance, with around 1.5 million living as refugees in neighbouring countries.

Oxfam staff are working around the clock to get emergency relief to as many people as we can. But we simply can't help everyone. While the UK government has already given generously, the number of people affected is rising rapidly. The UK can and must go further.

This festival season we need you to show your love and solidarity for Syria's people by urging our leaders to sit up, listen and act. Our campaigners will be asking people to sign a petition calling for the UK government to champion the needs of everyone affected, by increasing international aid inside Syria and across the region, and supporting efforts to find a peaceful, not military, end to the crisis. We'll also be collecting 'Love Syria' photos to show solidarity for those affected.

Syria's people have been through enough. Let's stand together, show the world we care, and help put a stop to their suffering.

Campaigning in 2013

Sorry, but applications to campaign in 2013 are now closed. If you'd like to add yourself to the waiting list then we'll be in contact if any places become available.

Music campaigning

Music campaigning with Oxfam at festivals is a really fun way to volunteer, but it also means hard work and commitment.

Festival campaigners will need to:

  • attend a training session

  • commit to the full festival onsite dates (the festival dates plus an additional day before and after)

  • work four shifts of 6 hours at each festival

1. Application form

Complete the online application form. This form provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate how you meet the skills and competencies outlined in the "Why be a Festival Campaigner" section. Your application will be scored against these. We will be asking you the following:

  • Why me? Please give a brief description (no more than 200 words) of why you're right for this role, giving examples of any skills and experience that will convince us to get you on board.
  • Introduce yourself - In less than a minute, create a short video of yourself telling us why people should support Oxfam. Please upload it as an unlisted file to YouTube and paste the URL address into the box below.

We often receive a high volume of applications for festival campaigners, so please apply early. As part of the selection process, we may also contact applicants by phone to discuss their application in more detail.
