Voluntary Assistant Manger (Holloway Road)


The Assistant Shop Manager will deputise for the Shop Manager and assist them to lead a shop team to maximise the shop's financial contribution to overcoming poverty and suffering.


You should be able to offer 14 hours per week for at least one month.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the shop in the manager's absence or alongside the manager
  • Ensuring that the volunteer rota is kept up to date
  • Assisting the manager in overseeing till procedures, such as customer service standards
  • Overseeing the opening up and/or closing up of the shop for the relevant shifts
  • Assisting the manager in overseeing financial procedures such as banking, cashing up and the completion of financial paperwork
  • Assisting the manager with volunteer recruitment and in-store promotions
  • Supervising volunteers when requested
  • Ensuring that health and safety standards are met
  • Maintaining retail standards such as stock density and merchandising standards
  • Supporting the Shop Manager in overseeing stock processing to ensure that the money made for Oxfam from the products sold is maximised
