Intern Assistant Manager (Edgware, London)

Context:

This is a great opportunity to volunteer in a vibrant Oxfam Shop. You will be joining with the Shop Manager and given relevant training as required to enable you to help run this busy shop. This is a great opportunity to gain managerial experience in a retail environment. 

Frequency: 2 or 3 days per week, ideally including one day at the weekend. For minimum of three months.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Manager in the daily running of the shop.
  • Take responsibility for the operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manger (once fully trained)
  • Assist the Manager to recruit and train new volunteers, manage and motivate existing volunteers to help us achieve great results.
  • Cash handling, financial management, till work, merchandising and general administrative tasks.
  • Option to specialise in a particular department. i.e books, clothing.

Skills and competencies:

  • Should be able to work at least one day at the weekend
  • Honesty, reliability, integrity and commitment to the shop and Oxfam's values.
  • Motivating teams as well as the capacity to work on your own.
  • Hard working and a willingness to learn.
  • Enjoy working in a friendly, fun and diverse team.
