Oxfam Shops make an incredibly valuable contribution to supporting Oxfam's work of fighting poverty and injustice across the world.
At the Oxfam Shop in Stanmore, we are looking for volunteers to help lead the development of our book section. This is a good opportunity for anyone with an interest in books who wants to contribute to Oxfam's work.
Ideally you will be able to work 1 or 2 shifts a week (4 hour shift).
Sorting and pricing donated books.
Organising and maintaining book section of the stock room.
Identifying potentially rare or valuable book and researching them on-line.
Merchandising the book section in the shop in such a way that it stimulates interest and entices customers to make a purchase.
Possibly helping to train other book volunteers.
Communicating with other team members.
Skills and competencies:
No retail experience is required. We're looking for people who are:
Keenly interested in books.
Friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Able to commit to covering a regular shift and to be punctual.
Comfortable with using the computer or willing to learn basic skills.
Well organised with an eye for detail.
