Fundraising Group Communications Coordinator (Stratford-upon-Avon)

Oxfam Fundraising Groups are teams of likeminded people who are passionate about changing the world.

With over 60 fundraising groups across the UK, we're looking to set up our next group in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Once up and running, the Stratford-upon-Avon Fundraising Group will organise fun, friendly fundraising events. These can be anything and everything - our fundraising groups organise all kinds of events, ranging from sponsored walks to golf days and curry nights to gala dinners!

As Communications Coordinator, you'll make sure that the team know what they are doing from meeting to meeting.  You'll create engaging newsletters for your supporters, take notes at meetings and look after your group's supporter database.

Last year, Stratford-Upon-Avon's nearest neighbouring group, the Birmingham Fundraising Group, raised over £4600 for Oxfam's work - that's enough to train 148 midwives in Ghana, or provide water for 1500 families in an emergency. By working together locally, you'll make a difference globally - and have a great time along the way.

Frequency: Flexible, 2 - 4 hours a week, times and days to suit you!

Key responsibilities:

  • You'll have a vital role in raising funds to support the work of Oxfam in alleviating poverty and suffering worldwide.
  • Keep the group organised; taking notes at meetings so people know what they are doing from month to month.
  • Create newsletters for your local supporters to let them know of your plans.
  • Keep an up to date contact list of all your supporters.
  • Inspire others with your passion for Oxfam's work, keeping your group at the heart of the community.
  • Be an active member of the Stratford-upon-Avon Fundraising Group, attending monthly meetings, helping to organise events and supporting your fellow volunteers.

Skills and competencies:

  • Drive and determination to make your fundraising a great success.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team

What this role can offer the volunteer:

  • This is your chance to contribute to Oxfam's goals of overcoming poverty and suffering worldwide.
  • Develop and enhance your organisational and written skills.
  • Comprehensive induction into Oxfam's work, training and ongoing support from Jenna, your local community fundraiser.
  • Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with Oxfam's expense policy.
