Fundraising Group Treasurer (Wolverhampton)

Context:

Oxfam Fundraising Groups are teams of likeminded people who are passionate about changing the world.  With over 60 fundraising groups across the UK, we're looking to set up our next group in Wolverhampton.

We're looking for a super organised Treasurer to help get the group up and running. You'll count and record the money raised from each event and transfer the money over to Oxfam, keeping the group up to date with how much you've raised. You'll inspire local people to support Oxfam and play a pivotal role in making change happen.

Last year, Wolverhampton's nearest neighbouring group, The Birmingham Fundraising Group, raised over £4600 for Oxfam's work - that's enough to train 148 midwives in Ghana, or provide water for 1500 families in an emergency. By working together locally, you'll make a difference globally - and have a great time along the way.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working with a group of passionate, like-minded people in the Wolverhampton area.
  • Meeting up monthly, helping to organise exciting events; anything from zumbathons to sponsored walks, curry nights to bake offs.
  • Managing the finances of the group; setting up a bank account and keeping a record of all income and expenditure.
  • Counting the money raised from each event, transferring it over to Oxfam and keeping your group up to date with your yearly total.
  • Inspire others with your passion for Oxfam's work, keeping your group at the heart of the community.
  • Getting to know the charity; we want you to love what you do, and be passionate about Oxfam. After all, your fundraising means we can help even more people worldwide!

Skills and competencies:

  • Drive and determination to make your fundraising a great success
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • A basic understanding of keeping a record of money - we'll give you support and training.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.

What this role can offer the volunteer:

  • The opportunity to contribute to Oxfam's goals of overcoming poverty and suffering worldwide.
  • Develop your organisational skills and learn more about Oxfam.
  • Support from Oxfam every step of the way; inductions, training and ongoing help.
  • Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with Oxfam's expenses policy.
