Fabulous fifties

The fifties were fabulous for so many reasons ... the war was finally in the past, everyone stepped out of the 40's and could see hope on the horizon. With this hope came happiness and colour which was greatly reflected in textiles and home wares. Lucienne Day, a British textile pattern designer started to make her way onto the scene creating a new and more abstract style of pattern making. These bolder, colourful prints, brighter floral patterns and more adventurous fabrics started to make their way into the home and still bring us much joy to this day.
