About Us

We are a warm and friendly village secondhand bookshop, run by folk who are passionate about books and music. Our stock covers a wide range of titles both fictional and factual, with our key areas being: Art, Classic Literature, Vintage Paperbacks, Crime Fiction, History, Cookery and Children's Books. The shop also has a good music department, selling vinyl records, CDs and DVDs. We stock a great range of greetings cards... and are also stockists of Fairtrade confectionery, stationery, gift wrap, ephemera and sheet music.

Donate items to us

Oxfam shops are always delighted to accept donations of quality undamaged items that you no longer want. Our shop teams are trained to make as much money as possible from your generosity to fund Oxfam's poverty busting work around the world. Items that sell particularly well are current fashion trends, quality paperback fiction and all accessories. And Oxfam is unique in that any textiles that are not sold via our shops are sent to our Wastesaver recycling plant to ensure we make as much money as possible from your generosity.

There are some items that we cannot sell:
- Electrical goods
- Damaged or broken items
- Safety items like crash helmets and children's car seats

In fact it costs Oxfam money to dispose of these items.

The best Tube station to aim for is Archway on the Northern Line - from there, outside on the Highgate Hill side of the station, you can get the 210 or 143 bus both of which stop right outside the shop, or the 271 bus which terminates along side the shop next door to ours. Once off the 271, turn left into Highgate High Street at the corner where the bus stops. In both cases the bus stop to alight at is called 'South Grove'.

Another bus in to the Village is the 214, you will need to alight at the 'Pond Square' stop. Once off the bus, make your to the mini roundabout (The Gatehouse Pub on the left), turn right into Highgate High Street, continue ahead to the next mini roundabout, and the shop is just a little way down on the right hand side of the road.

You could make your way via the Highgate Underground Station (Northern Line), which is on the Archway Road, but if you don't know the area, the route can be confusing and very hilly (and all on foot - no direct bus routes).

By Car: Parking is available around the Village, but bear in mind that Monday to Friday there are some parking restrictions between 10am to Noon daily, with very few 'Pay and Display' space provided (max stay - hour and half). Generally there are no restrictions at the weekend and Bank Holidays - but be careful - avoid bays with suspended parking. Our tip would be to always read the signage near the parking bay you're aiming for, as the Council has been known to tow away.
