About Us

Our shop at 17 Broad Street was the UK's first charity shop, proudly attested by a blue heritage plaque outside. Since the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief (Oxfam) opened the shop in 1948 we have traded continuously, staffed by Oxfam managers and a team of excellent volunteers. We are proud of this history and regard the shop as Oxfam's flagship shop.

We sell a variety of donated clothes, accessories, homewares, music, stamps, coins and postcards. We also sell New Products including Fairtrade food, gifts and greeting cards.

Because we are located in the centre of Oxford which is the heart of Oxford University our donors bring a wide diversity of quality second hand goods. Our wonderful team of volunteers support Oxfam mission selling from beautiful quirky vintage women clothing to a great good quality collection of vinyl on our basement floor.

Opening times

Monday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Donate items to us

Oxfam shops are always delighted to accept donations of quality undamaged items that you no longer want. Our shop teams are trained to make as much money as possible from your generosity to fund Oxfam's poverty busting work around the world. Items that sell particularly well are current fashion trends, quality paperback fiction and all accessories. And Oxfam is unique in that any textiles that are not sold via our shops are sent to our Wastesaver recycling plant to ensure we make as much money as possible from your generosity.

There are some items that we cannot sell:
- Electrical goods
- Damaged or broken items
- Safety items like crash helmets and children's car seats

In fact it costs Oxfam money to dispose of these items.
