Give a shift: Volunteer in an Oxfam shop

Oxfam shops play a vital role in the fight against poverty, raising funds to save and change lives all over the world. This is only possible because of people like you.

Become an Oxfam Shop volunteer and - as well as fighting poverty - you'll learn new skills, build your CV, and join a friendly team of people at the heart of your community. You can volunteer for as little as four hours a week, too.

Give and get back

You can learn new skills - or develop existing ones. Window dressing, working behind the till, sorting donations, organising pop up shop events, managing our social media - there are lots of options. Here's what a few of our current volunteers have to say.

"I like getting a big bag of books to sort, spotting something that could be collectable - then going online and working out what it could be worth."

John Rastall sorts and helps value books of all shapes and sizes.

"Volunteering has increased my self esteem - I'm more confident talking to people. I feel I have freedom in the shop to really contribute."

Tamika Aboah works the till - and does the Online Shop photography.

"There are three ways to keep happy. Take exercise, count your blessings and do something for somebody else. This is my bit of doing something for somebody else. I love it too!"

Lucy Aspinall does a little bit of everything.
