What to expect
"Readings legendary status sees fans returning year after year."
Caroline Sinclair, Volunteer Steward
One of the UK’s longest running and biggest festivals, Reading Festival pulls in artists across the rock, indie, punk and metal spectrum on the August Bank Holiday weekend every year.
On the banks of the River Thames in Berkshire, the festival provides the 90,000 ticket holders with a packed lineup across 6 stages, with entertainment running late into the night.
Along with its sister festival Leeds, which runs on the same weekend, it mainly draws in a core audience of 15-30 year olds, but its legendary status sees fans returning year after year.
As it is such a large festival in terms of capacity, we take several hundred stewards to be the eyes and ears of the event but there is still a strong sense of community. With a long established campsite away from public camping and good facilities available, stewards soon feel at home spending some downtime around the campfire. From a stewarding point of view, this can be a very busy and hectic festival to work at, but still appeals to volunteers trying a festival for the first time and Reading veterans alike!
If you’re looking for a great way to spend your Bank Holiday weekend, with a bit of rock, a bit of dance, and everything in between, join us at Reading!
