What's in it for me?

There are many reasons to steward with Oxfam! Below are just a few of them.

We'd love you to get involved.

Welcome

See the other side of festivals

"Stewarding is, quite simply, the best way to experience a festival. The sense of shared purpose with your fellow stewards added to the satisfaction of knowing that you've made a difference through Oxfam makes the experience all the better."

David Amos, Oxfam volunteer steward

Access to the festival when off duty

Of course you have three shifts to complete, but when you are off duty, you are free to enjoy the festival in your own way. You will also be able to leave the festival site, providing you leave enough time to return before your next shift.

A separate (and usually fun!) place to camp

Oxfam stewards have their own campsite with toilets and hot showers. Occasionally this area may be shared with other crews at the festival, but is always separate from public camping.

A meal ticket for each shift

To be used with the Oxfam or crew caterer, or at some festivals at various concessions around site. You will find out where you can use your meal tickets when you register at the festival itself.

Make new friends, gain new skills

The opportunity to be part of a well-established community

Stewarding for Oxfam really is fun! In our survey, lots of stewards stated one of the main reasons they return to steward is because of the friends they make along the way.

The opportunity to gain new skills and events experience

Oxfam stewarding looks good on your CV, another reason to get on board. It also gives you the chance to learn new skills, in a diverse environment. You can use your Oxfam stewarding experience towards your Duke of Edinburgh award.

Guidance and support

Training

All Oxfam stewards receive a three-hour training session, equipping you with the necessary skills to be able to complete your role with confidence. Training is compulsary for all new stewards or anyone who hasn't trained in the last 3 years. This will be bookable during your application.

Stewarding guide

At your first festival onsite you will be offered a stewarding guide. Take it, read it and keep it with you - this an essential guide to stewarding.

A supported experience

Throughout your shifts you will be supported by your supervisor. When you arrive on site, you will receive a full briefing and the onsite office is available 24hrs a day if you have any problems throughout the festival.
