What we're doing

Oxfam first started working in India in response to the famine in Bihar in 1951. Since then the country has seen dramatic change and development, but remains home to an estimated 300 million people living in poverty. Through our sister organisation, Oxfam India, we work to help people find ways of making a secure living and ensure they have access to education and health services. We also support communities to help them cope with the impact of natural disasters.
