Brass Bands blow their trumpet for the 'get together' campaign
On January 18th 2012, leading women musicians from across the North of England came together and made some noise to promote the 'get together' campaign.
Shoppers and commuters were treated to a half-hour brass band show in St George’s Square, with the musicians decked out in pink boas and performing a fantastic range of songs.
The ladies came from different brass bands from across the region, but put on a show as though they had been performing together for years!
Brass musician Tabby Clegg, who is urging bands across the UK to back the campaign, said: “Music is a very powerful way of communicating and changing the world. It brings people together in a magical way.
“There are so many women around the world trying to support their families in the face of awful poverty, and it’s great to know that we can do something to make their lives a bit easier. “The 'get together' campaign is a brilliant excuse to meet up and make music together to benefit other women around the world.”
A musical 'get together' is a great idea for your own fundraising event. Why not round up your musical friends, and try your hand at a busking 'get together'? Sign up to host your own event.
