I've always had an acute sense of what is just and, therefore, what is unjust. As a Christian I've also always felt that I need to do something, anything, to help those who are less fortunate than myself.
I guess this crystallized during my three years as undergraduate at Nottingham Trent University (1999-2002), where I wrote for the student newspaper 'Platform', and edited the Christian Union newsletter, as well as contributing to local parish magazines in my home village in Leicestershire.
A lot of what I wrote was about developing countries and people's need for a leg up and for Western Governments to be fairer on issues such as trade. After uni, I took a year out with a charity called Youth for Christ, part of which involved going in to schools and taking lessons about how we, as individuals and consumers, can affect real change by the choices we make.
Last year, a lot of my time was taken up campaigning as a signed up local member of the Make Poverty History coalition, which achieved so much for the good of all.
I agree with Bono when he said that we're not asking for charity, what we're asking for is Justice.
