Stand Up and Take Action

17 October 2008

Today is World Poverty Day, and to mark the occasion Oxfam staff took part in Stand Up and Take Action against poverty. They joined over 100 million people in more than 100 countries who have also committed to Stand Up and Take Action between October 17-19.

Why are we doing this? Well apart from helping to set a new world record for the biggest ever mobilisation of people, we are doing this to show our commitment to a world without poverty.

There are thousands of events all over the world, so if you would like to take part visit Stand Up and Take Action website for an event near you, or you can even take part online at In My Name.

It is an inspiring thing to think that 100 million people are all working together to end poverty, and even better to see the photos and reports of what has happened - everything from individual moments, concerts, gathering of friends of family and much more. So, take part, get active and make sure you Stand Up this weekend.
