In video: a week of climate campaigning in Poland
8 December 2008
We're halfway through crucial climate change negotiations in Poznan, Poland, and at this point we thought we'd pause and take a moment to look at what's happened in the last seven days.
Let's recap.
We've had launch of Canvas for Change - an installation, created by artists or children from all over the world, of sixteen canvasses showing how climate change is already taking its grip on poor communities.
Next, Oxfam's media work swung into full action at the start of the week with the release of two reports 'Climate, Poverty and Justice' and 'Turning Carbon into Gold' - the first of which highlights the urgency of climate change and calls for the Poznan talks to be a turning point in international negotiations, the latter explains how (with the right political will) money can be generated to help poor countries adapt to the effects of climate change.
Later in the week, the Climate Monster - propped up by volunteers from Oxfam Spain - reared its gruesome head and caught the attention of the cameras.
Finally, to cap things off at the weekend, the Oxfam team joined with thousands of others in Poland - and around the world, for that matter - to take part in the Global Day of Action.
It's been a busy week, and we've put the highlights into a video play-list below (narrated by Charlie - Oxfam's climate change campaigner who's at the meetings) so you can see what's been happening.
As we move into the all-important final five days the big question is: are decision makers ready to step up to the table? As government ministers from more than one hundred countries arrive, we're hoping that the real decisions will start to unfold and that we'll see decisive action.
