Last October here in Wales 47 events took place, involving 564 musicians and entertaining thousands of people, all raising money to tackle poverty around the world. Well, for people who missed Oxjam last year, or loved it so much they want to take part again, they have another opportunity. Here at Oxfam Cymru we are looking for pro-active music fans to become volunteer music event organisers and to make April the new month to make music, raise money and help Oxfam end poverty.
Oxjam is a festival with a difference: thousands of events put on by music lovers - from large-scale festivals to local sponsored busks. People with a range of musical tastes from folk to funk and rock to rave are all invited to join the festival and it doesn't need to be in a big venue. The beauty of Oxjam is that hundreds of small events held in perhaps a local pub or even a living room can make one huge party.
In October, BBC Radio One and Radio Cymru DJ Huw Stephens got involved with the Oxjam and is urging anybody and everybody in Wales to get involved again in April.
Huw Stephens said:" If you love music - then put it to good use and get involved with Oxjam - it really is a fantastic way to get stuck into your local music scene - either as an organiser or a performer. More than that though Oxjam is undeniably a good thing, so please get involved with Oxjam in some way if you can."
Taking part in Oxjam can also be a platform to reach a wider audience. A number of musicians who performed last year filmed their act at an Oxjam show and uploaded their video to the MTV website. The best were put to a public vote and Her Portrait in Black from Merthyr Tydfil are now amongst the semi-finalists competing to appear in a special MTV studio show.
Liz Whitaker, a University graduate organised an ambitious night of music for Oxjam last year:
"About 1,200 people turned up on the night - it was so exciting to see so many people. Loads of people came up to me and thanked me. My friends still talk about it now. I am very proud of the event I organised and believe Oxjam is an amazing concept. It is great way of getting people involved with charity at a young age and the events provide so much scope for originality and variety."
