Goats on the brink of dying due to drought. Picture Jonathan Tench / Oxfam Cymru The present situation in east Africa is causing food prices to rise which risk pushing millions of people across the region towards severe hunger and destitution. Oxfam Cymru is appealing for money to bolster its emergency work across the area. At a time when food prices are making news headlines almost daily, what we are seeing in East Africa is a part of the world that could be on the brink of the first global food price famine.

Oxfam is working throughout the east of Africa but needs public support to increase its emergency assistance operation, which is so needed desperately.
