The Albany Road Oxfam shop, in Cardiff, is the first in Wales to launch the 'Gift Aid' scheme in an experimental pilot which extends to 12 shops accross the UK.

The welsh shop had the most successful first week of all participating branches signing up 72 donors- easily!

Sue Courtney-Thomas, shop manager, said that the sign-up process is easy and customers are very keen to be involved. Gift-Aid is a scheme that enables Oxfam to claim back 28 % tax on money generated from donated goods. The tax-rebate scheme amounts to an estimated £20,000 additional income for the shop, and will be rolled-out across all Welsh shops in the new-year.
