Wrapping things up for the summer
3 August 2009
Hi all. I haven't written for a while, as I was feeling unwell for a couple of weeks and since then have been busy catching up and wrapping things up for the summer holidays.
The feeling rather unwell turned out to be hay fever, which was in my chest as well as causing the usual cold-like symptoms. I've now got some medication for it and am feeling better.
Organising paperwork
Most of the projects that I have been volunteering on have, or are, coming to an end for the summer break. I have been busy organising paperwork and an end-of-course trip for a group of parents that I have been working with; hopefully the weather will improve for that occasion.
I have also been helping out for a few weeks now at my children's school, to see if that was a direction I wanted to go in. I've enjoyed it as well as finding it challenging, and am still not sure if it would be something that I would want to do full time!!
No luck on job front
On the job front, I haven't had much luck. I did see one job, but it required quite a bit of travel, which would have been difficult, plus they wanted someone with a driver's license, which I don't have. Will continue looking!!
I attended a conference last week at which I was on a parents' panel, talking about parenting experiences. The conference was great, and I got talking to some 'learning champions', who work to get adults into education; they spoke of the possibility of creating 'parent champions' who would support parents into education, which I found interesting. Hopefully they will be keeping me posted about any changes or future training possibilities.
All over the place
I have been a bit all over the place this week; I think I might be missing my son, who is away on camp with the school. My eldest has been unwell with a cold, and for a while the other day I thought that my 8-year-old might have broken her big toe. Luckily it was just jammed, and it clicked back into place, saving us all a visit to A&E. It's still a bit swollen, but she can walk and run on it, so I would imagine that all is okay.
Well, I'd best get back to researching activities for the summer hol for my lot; I hope to have some sort of plan before it gets here!!!
