Fight climate change: paint your roof white?

Painting your roof white is the latest, apparently totally bonkers, idea to combat climate change. The thinking is that, if everyone does it, it will reflect enough sunlight back into space to cool the planet. Hashem Akbari, from Lawrence Berkeley National Lab in California, is the boffin behind it all, and he suggests painting roads white, too. Trouble is, this takes the focus away from the real issue: getting our carbon emissions down in the first place.
