Climate Action! President Obama- the world is watching!

December 16th, 2009 at 4.53 pm.

The UN climate change conference, which ends on Friday, is our best chance to save the planet from catastrophic climate change. But the negotiations in Copenhagen have descended into crisis: we’ve hit the tipping point of whether the talks will end in triumph or failure.

Through no fault of their own, it is the millions of poor and vulnerable people around the world whose lives and livelihoods are damaged by climate change. These people need climate justice. We need US President Obama and the leaders of other rich nations to show global leadership to resuscitate these talks.

You’ve campaigned for months to get world leaders to take the negotiations seriously, and you’ve forced Heads of State like President Obama and Prime Minister Brown to attend in person.

Failure cannot be allowed to happen – but the self-interest of rich countries has pushed negotiations to the brink of failure. This must not happen. Please take action right now to save the talks from collapse. Send an email to the US Ambassador, Louis Susman, asking him to tell President Obama that nothing short of a fair, safe and binding deal is good enough.

At this crucial time, every email counts.

Don’t forget please let us know if you’ve taken the action by leaving a comment below.

Thanks for all your efforts!
