Well on Saturday 24th October we pulled out all the stops with The Converging World and Christian Aid to put on an all-singing all-dancing climate change action extravaganza.
Thousands of Bristol folk turned up to hear Jonathon Porritt tell us that there is a “gathering momentum that gives us more hope than we have ever had reason to have before”. Next up our own international climate change expert, Push Krishnamurthy, told us ”the time is running out - we have to act now. We have to act now because lives are being lost!” Watch the You Tube clip above to see our snapshot of the event. Feeling duly inspired by our success on the 24th, it’s now all hands on deck until the Stop Climate Chaos ‘The Wave’ march in London on 5th December - www.the-wave.org.uk. It’s going to be a human tide of blue flowing through the streets of London. We’ve been practising our bright blue face paint every day - mine’s a blue goatee, what’s yours?
And here at Oxfam South West - in the heart of inner city Bristol - we’re getting very excited. There are so many people already planning to go to London on 5th December we reckon we’re going to hit that 100,000 mark and more - and show our leaders just how much their voters want action from them NOW! There’s a huge cycle ride going from Bristol and Swindon - www.bristolbluewave.org.uk and tons of coaches - www.oxfam.org.uk/thewave. This is going to be the biggest climate change demonstration EVER SEEN! And the South West will be there in VERY big numbers!
