Oxfam needs Scots to ring the changes in 2008

Make a New Year's Resolution to fight global poverty
From volunteering in an Oxfam shop to campaigning to end the root causes of poverty, Oxfam is looking for people across Scotland who want to make a difference in 2008. Shop volunteers are needed to help sell goods to raise money for Oxfam's work in over 70 countries, others to get involved by supporting Oxfam campaigns and get active locally on the issue of global poverty.
Tom Richardson, operations manager for Oxfam shops in Scotland, said: " Each year we make resolutions but most of us fail to stick to them. Helping others can be a very powerful motivator. By volunteering you can really make a difference to the lives of people who most need it. Volunteering for Oxfam is not only a great way to raise money for Oxfam's projects, but also a good fun way to meet new people and learn something new. "
Campaign manager of Oxfam in Scotland, Eilidh Whiteford added, " Oxfam works on a number issues in order to bring about the changes needed to fight poverty. We rely on volunteers throughout Scotland who give up their time to support us by campaigning on issues like climate change and health and education for all. It doesn't matter if you don't have free time during the day. Campaigners can make their voices heard whether it is out in the community or from the comfort of their own homes."
