St Andrews in Vogue
18 November 2008
Fashionistas the length and breadth of the country will soon be beating a path to the doors of Oxfam's St Andrews shops.
Oxfam's shop in the town's Bell Street has been named one of the best charity shops to visit in the UK by Vogue magazine. The magazine, which is the fashion bible for the eternally glamorous, reluctantly revealed its 'Secret Address Book' in its December issue.
The magazine says that the town's students are benefiting from the donations of the town's most fashionable pensioners, proving that the older generation can still look 'Absolutely Fabulous'.
Kay Dewar, Oxfam St Andrews Store Manager said, "Vogue has revealed what people in St Andrews have known for a long time, that Oxfam is the only place to shop!"
"It is fantastic to be mentioned in Vogue, as it is one of the UK's leading fashion magazines. It came completely out of the blue and is a welcome boost to us, especially ahead of the Christmas rush. The shop is well supported in the local community and now people all over the world will know that we are here."
The shop sells a variety of fashionable clothing and accessories as well as books and home ware. It also offers Oxfam's 'unwrapped' range, a series of gifts that help improve the lives of people living in poverty around the world, such as: a goat, teach a teacher and plant an allotment.
Oxfam St Andrews is located at 19-21 Bell Street, St Andrews.
