Feeling Inspired by the IF Campaign Launch

Going to the IF campaign launch on the 23rd January was, in one word, inspiring.
The highlight for me was hearing Bill Nighy speak frankly about starvation, tax evasion and that IF we don't try to make a difference then who will? It seems ludicrous that whilst obesity remains an epidemic in more economically developed countries, hunger is still affecting 1 out of 8 people.
Our distribution of food needs to be balanced out and it is up to us to make it happen. We can do this by pressuring government and making sure that at the next G8 summit David Cameron and friends take this issue seriously, making long term plans to prevent those dying of starvation.

Bill Nighy also highlighted that western corporations base their own economic gains before the human rights of others. Hearing that developing countries loose 3 times the amount of money to tax havens each year than the amount they receive in aid that caused me not only to feel angry and ashamed but also empowered. It got me thinking about my own attitude to food and know that I want to be part of a global movement for change.
The short of it is, people are starving. People are starving when we produce enough food to be able to feed them. Hunger is preventable. We should be trying to make a difference. IF we work together, IF we are persistent, we can make 2013 the beginning of the end of hunger.
