Before she left Oxfam GB Maria was the communications and learning coordinator for two of Oxfam's global initiatives: the Enterprise Development Programme (EDP) that has been supporting start up agricultural enterprises in about 19 countries and the Women's Economic Empowerment and Care (WE-Care) initiative. In her role she developed and coordinated communication products and processes, and facilitated cross programme learning from Oxfam's work on livelihoods, women's empowerment, social enterprise, market access and private sector engagement.

With a combined background in communications and development, she has previously worked in the media industry as well as for the UN and NGOs in Indonesia and Southern Sudan. Maria holds a masters degree in Screen Arts and a second masters in International Studies and Diplomacy from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
