Organise a mobile phone
collection in your school
1.
First of all you need to make your collection box. Find a decent-sized
cardboard box.
2. Download
the poster (310K PDF file )
to stick on the box. Trim the box if necessary, then put
your box in a prominent and secure position where students can leave
their donated phones. (You will need a copy of Adobe's
Acrobat software to read the poster- you can download it for free)
3. Make some posters, or download
one (114K PDF file), to advertise your collection.
Put copies up around the school, lettting everyone know when the
collection will start, where they can leave their phones, and how
long the collection will last. We recommend a two week period.
4. Tell everyone about your collection - friends, parents, colleagues,
the local community.
5.
Remember to check that the SIM cards are removed from all mobile
phones you collect.
6. When the collection is over, call 0870 752 0999 to arrange
free courier collection of your phones.
7. Finally pass on our thanks to everyone who donated their old
phone. The phones that can be used again are serviced and then re-used
in the developing world where there are no fixed line telephone
networks and people rely on mobile phones to communicate. The phones
that cannot be used are recycled safely.
