Caroline's hopes and fears |
"Life is good in Kampala (Uganda's capital city). I'd like to study there one day if I have the chance. I want to continue at school and be Minister of Finance. That would be the best job! Or I could be a bank manager. I can see myself meeting many people. Otherwise I could be a teacher like my teacher, Madame Irene. She teaches English, and I like English best. |

I like it when I can go to the shamba. It’s our home. It is very close to the camp, but when you are there the camp seems far away. There is nothing I will miss about Amida camp, nothing, because even the friends I have in the camp are also from my village. I don’t know what brought this war. It has been there all my life. But people don’t think the fighting will end soon. If the war can stop, we’ll all be able to go home.” |
