Why we went there

My Mum and Dad support some charity projects with Oxfam in India. These help some of the poorest people in the world. To learn about what Oxfam does we went to visit the cotton weavers in southern India who work very hard for hours and hours on end and are not paid enough to live the life that all of us take completely for granted. What these people do is important and they are being totally ripped off and, if we can do something to help to stop this, why aren’t we?

Mum and Dad wanted us to see and to understand how they were helping these people. We also wanted to show Oxfam that we thought what they were doing was very important and great, which we truly, honestly did. It’s comforting to know that there are people in this world who are still working for the best for humanity rather than just for themselves.
