About the trip
My name is Eleanor. In January 2006 I had the good fortune to go to Rwanda in Africa, to make a video for the BBC about the Oxfam Unwrapped appeal. At first I was just asked if I would like to find out where the goat I was given for Christmas on behalf of a poor African family, had gone.
There was quite a build up of preparation before going as we didn't know if it was going to happen, and Mum had to go with me. We had to have our jabs for Yellow Fever and other diseases, and start taking our tablets to prevent us getting malaria. At last we got the go-ahead with a day to spare. Mum had to organise accommodation for my brother Tom, and luckily he was fixed up with a school friend.
