Saying goodbye

| Cracking groundnuts. Selina’s family grow the nuts to sell |
|
We had dinner with Selina’s family at her house. Selina’s mum had made us a meal of sweet potato, beans, plantain, grated carrot and beetroot — with banana and pineapple for dessert. It was very kind of her as I know that the family does not eat like this every day, and they had grown all the food themselves.
Before we left I helped Selina to crack open some groundnuts which the family were going to sell. Her family grows groundnuts and other crops. Selina has to help her family to work in the fields every day. When we had to say goodbye Selina gave me a present of a beautiful woven basket filled with groundnuts. This was really generous, as her family could have sold the nuts. I was really sad to have to go, but
Selina said that she would come and visit me in England one day.
