Changing the world through Oxfam's campaigns
One part of Oxfam’s work is to try and persuade world leaders, such as prime ministers and presidents, to change the way the world works. Just like there are rules in a game of football, so there are rules, often chosen by richer countries, about how the world works. We want to make sure that these rules and regulations are fairer to poor people.
Making a co-ordinated effort to change something in this way is called a 'campaign'. Oxfam usually works with other organisations - and always with the support of lots of people around the world - to speak out for the change we want to see. The more people who support a campaign, the more that decision-makers will have to listen to us.
