Chris Martin from Coldplay is one of Oxfam's most vocal supporters
of the Make Trade Fair campaign
and can often be seen with the logo written on his hand when he
performs.
Chris travelled to Haiti with Oxfam to visit coffee farmers.
He was shocked to see that big companies were taking most of the
profits from the coffee, leaving the farmers with very little
money to buy food for their families and to send their children
to school.
"If a few companies were less greedy, the people
at the bottom woud have a lot more," he said. "We
can do our bit by pressurising politicians to change this insanity,
and by buying Fair Trade coffee."
Chris and his band Coldplay performed at the Oxfam Fairplay gig
in 2002, and Chris also made a special appearance at this year's
Make Trade Fair Live
gig where he did a duet with R.E.M.
