on the kora with Damon
Kora player Toumani Diabaté is one of Mali’s best known
musicians. His father, Sidiki Diabaté, was known as the
king of the kora, and Toumani himself has been performing
in public since he was eight.
Two talents meeting
Damon first met Toumani round at his house in Bamako –
the resulting jamming session was a great success. Listen

Friday night out at The Hogon
They got on so well they decided to play live together for
an impromptu gig at a venue called The Hogon. Nobody was
quite sure how the live music would work out, but the Malians
ended up dancing until past 3 am!
