Despite being busy launching her singer career and starring in
Hollywood films such as Good Will Hunting and The
Phantom of the Opera, Minnie Driver has still made time to
support Oxfam's work.
In February 2004 she travelled to Thailand and Cambodia for Oxfam's
Make Trade Fair campaign
to visit poor female workers and see the conditions they were
working in.
Minnie also performed at the Make
Trade Fair Live concert in September 2004,
joining with other stars such as Razorlight, Jamelia, Chris
Martin and R.E.M. to speak out about unfair trade rules.
"The poorest people with the least are making the
sacrifices for those of us who have the most. I'm not a global
economist but you just need some humanity to understand that this
isn't fair."
