Oxfam's Make Trade Fair Campaign
Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign was
launched to highlight the way that unfair trade rules are affecting
poor communities in the developing world.
Currently many local producers and farmers suffer because they are forced
to sell their goods to big international companies at very low prices.
This means that while the large companies are able to make big profits,
craftsmen and farmers are often getting a raw deal.
Oxfam is working to get large companies to pay a fair price to
the people who make and grow many of the things we buy. By paying
farmers and producers in the developing world a fair price for their
goods we can make sure people can afford to buy enough food and
send their children to school.
Making trade fair and changing the current trade rules
will help people in the developing world lift themselves out of
poverty.
To highlight how poor farmers are being 'dumped' on every day by
rich countries and companies, many stars were photographed being
'dumped' on themselves. Fancy seeing Colin Firth drenched in coffee,
Alanis Morissette buried in wheat or Michael Stipe from REM covered
in milk? Then click
