At the heart of Africa lies a big country, largely empty, between the sandy deserts of Libya in the North and the lush forests of Central Africa in the South. Chad is one of the poorest countries in the world. Yet, in the East, violence in neighbouring Sudan made thousands of people flee the region of Darfur and cross the border to seek refuge in Chad.
