Oxfam supports the Voluntary Council for the Handicapped (VCH)
in Addis Ababa. VCH runs training courses which aim to help people
with disabilities to earn a living from their skills: there are
courses in woodwork, shoe repairing, sewing, and embroidery. Courses
usually last for six months, but are designed for the individual
needs of each person.
Teilhun is training on the woodwork course: "Ive been
coming to the course for seven months. Its good Im
learning a trade that I hope Ill be able to use in the future,
and its good to be with other people. Most of all its
good because its given me confidence and hope."
