Oxfam in Ethiopia
Supporting health work with mothers and children

The Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) run a health project based
in Addis Ababa. Four Health Promoters work with 99 people who have
disabilities such as cerebral palsy, and polio. People are visited
in their homes. Health Promoter Abeba Tsegaye, pictured here, is
working with Eferem Tamuru, aged six.
"These games I play with him, using the ball, are helping
his progress greatly," she says. "In the four months that
I’ve been visiting Eferem, he’s made rapid progress. He’s
now able to walk, and his co-ordination has improved a lot."
